The trial of ASP Drambi Vandi, who is accused of killing Lagos-based attorney Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem on Christmas Day, will start in a Lagos State High Court on Monday, January 16.
Raheem was allegedly shot and killed by Vandi, a member of the Ajiwe Police Station in Ajah, Lagos State, while she was returning from an outing with her family.
The alleged murder took place in Ajah.
The trial would take place before Justice I.O. Harrison at Tafawa Balewa Square, according to a statement issued by Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
“The trial of ASP Vandi who allegedly killed Raheem on Dec. 25, 2022, along Ajah Expressway will commence before Justice I.O. Harrison at a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS),” he said.
A day after the Police Service Commission ordered his suspension due to the alleged death, Vandi made an appearance before Chief Magistrate C.A. Adedayo on December 30, 2022.
In accordance with Adedayo’s directive, he was to be detained at the Ikoyi detention center while the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions provided his decision.
