Ogbomoso, Oyo State –The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo North Senatorial District has emphatically reaffirmed its confidence in the leadership of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, citing his administration’s significant strides in state development. This declaration came during a senatorial meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, May 22, 2025, at the Lagbami Osekun Hall, Arowomole, Ogbomoso South Local Government Area.

Leaders, stakeholders, and members of the party from across the 13 local government areas spanning the Ogbomoso and Oke Ogun Zones unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Makinde. They reiterated their unwavering loyalty and support for his leadership of the party in both Oyo State and the South-West region.
The party lauded Governor Makinde’s “tremendous achievements” in key sectors, including infrastructure development, education, health, security, and economic expansion. His commitment to the welfare of the state’s citizens was a recurring theme throughout the meeting.
A major highlight of the gathering was a collective commitment by the Oyo North PDP to foster unity among all members and intensify efforts on membership drive, laying the groundwork for the 2027 General Election.
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr. Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, who attended the well-patronized meeting, emphasized the PDP’s enduring strength and establishment within the state and Nigeria. He assured attendees that the party remains dedicated to addressing grievances and appeasing aggrieved members to ensure a unified purpose for the party’s continued progress. Barr. Lawal urged members to actively showcase the extensive achievements of the Makinde-led administration across all sectors and pledged his continued efforts in reconciling diverse interests, offering support across the four Federal Constituencies and at the Oyo North Senatorial District levels. He also extended gratitude to the Ogbomoso South Local Government for hosting the event.
Other notable party leaders in the senatorial district, including former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Hamid Gbadamosi, Dr. Saka Balogun, Chief Jacob Adetoro, and Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, echoed the call for a stronger, more united PDP. They urged members to put aside differences and work collaboratively for the party’s sustained success. Engr. Gbadamosi and Dr. Balogun specifically expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his support in their respective appointments to the PDP Board of Trustees and as Balogun of Ogbomosoland.
Earlier in the meeting, PDP chairmen from the 13 local governments in the Oyo North Senatorial District presented reports on the state of the party in their respective councils. The senatorial chairman, Hon. Yinusa Adekunle Yusuff, provided updates on the progress made by the Oyo North PDP and affirmed that the Oyo State PDP, under the chairmanship of Mr. Dayo Ogungbenro, is actively working towards reconciling party members statewide and reinforcing party discipline.
Representatives of the Local Government chairmen, Hon. Rasaq Fadiran, and the PDP House of Assembly members, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, commended Governor Makinde’s leadership and pledged their continued adherence to the party’s directives at their respective local government, federal constituency, and senatorial levels to strengthen the party in preparation for the 2027 General Election.
In his vote of thanks, Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, praised Governor Makinde for his effective guidance of the party. He also extended his appreciation to all leaders and stakeholders, noting that the impressive turnout of party members indicated that the event was “more of a movement than a meeting.”
The influential gathering saw the attendance of numerous prominent PDP leaders, including former Commissioner for Finance, Chief Bayo Bankole; former PDP state chairman, Chief Michael Adegbite; Chief Isaac Koleoso; former Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Barr. Adeniyi Farinto; former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Rasaq Gbadegesin (Agbeti); Pa Adesina Okunade; Hon. Ezekiel Oyedepo; Hon. Lanre Agoro; and others.
Members of the House of Assembly present included Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin (Ogbomoso South), Hon. Dele Adeola (Iseyin/Itesiwaju), Hon. Saminu Gbadamosi (Saki East/Atisbo), Hon. Olubisi Oluranti (Ogbomoso North), Hon. Ogundele Johnson Akintola (Oriire), and Hon. Anthony Ogunsola (Iwajowa). Appointees of Governor Makinde from the senatorial district, including commissioners, special advisers, executive assistants, special assistants, and chairmen and members of various boards, also attended, alongside chairmen of local governments within the senatorial district.
