Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a crucial high-level meeting at the Presidential Villa today, engaging with prominent political stakeholders from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara States. The gathering, aimed at fostering political unity and addressing regional concerns, saw the attendance of state governors, former governors, senators, and key party chieftains.
Central to the discussions was a significant political development announced by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdulahi Ganduje. Ganduje, who led the delegation, revealed to President Tinubu that all three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators representing Kebbi State have committed to defecting to the APC during the Senate plenary session scheduled for next Tuesday.

The senators poised to switch allegiance are:
* Senator Adamu Aliero, representing Kebbi Central Senatorial District.
* Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi, representing Kebbi North Senatorial District.
* Senator Garba Maidoki, representing Kebbi South Senatorial District.
This anticipated defection marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Kebbi State and is expected to strengthen the APC’s presence in the Senate. The meeting underscored President Tinubu’s commitment to engaging with key political figures across the nation, aiming to build consensus and promote stability. Discussions also covered regional development initiatives and strategies to address specific challenges facing the three states. Details of these discussions were not released to the press.
