Police Arrest Impostor for Inciting Social Media Comments Against Edo People

Kaduna State Police have arrested a man who falsely presented himself as a police officer and made inflammatory comments against people from Edo State on social media.

The suspect, Hadaina Hussaini (also known as Dan-taki), posted comments on Facebook, falsely claiming to be a Kaduna police officer and threatening retaliation against southerners in connection to the Uromi killings.

Investigations revealed that Hussaini is not a member of the Nigeria Police Force or the Kaduna State Police Command. The police confirmed that the uniform he was pictured wearing was from his time as a member of the Police Special Constabulary, a voluntary outfit, from which he was dismissed two years ago due to his “questionable character.”

“His picture captured in Police Uniform as displayed on the Social Media, which is an improper dressing, is that of him when he was a member of the Police Special Constabulary attached to Kaduna State Constabulary Office, but was dismissed from the voluntary outfit two (2) years ago due to his questionable character,” stated DSP Mansir Hassan, Police Public Relations Officer for the Kaduna State Command.

The police clarified that the identification card visible in the social media photos, bearing “PSC/KD,” confirms his former status as a Police Special Constable. They also noted that the photos were posted online two years prior to his dismissal.

Hussaini has been arrested and will be charged in court following the completion of preliminary investigations.”The State Command however wishes to state categorically that, the Nigeria Police Force is a disciplined and regimented organization committed to upholding law and order, and would not condone any form of incitement, hate speech, or threat to the peace and harmony of our dear Country,” Hassan said.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabi’u Muhammad, urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity to the police.
