A concerned citizen, Sola Akinwande, has written an open letter to the Odeda Local Government in Abeokuta, decrying the chaos created by commercial motorcycles, known as Okada, and market women at Odo Eran Market, Obantoko.
According to Akinwande, the situation has become a threat to road users, with motorcycles parked and wares displayed on the roadside, causing narrow roads and near-total blockage. The junction, which has a large crater on the road, has become a risky affair, with Akinwande warning that it’s a “calamity waiting to happen.”
Akinwande also expressed concern that law enforcement officers in the area are helpless, possibly due to timidity or compromise. The citizen is calling on the local government authority to intervene immediately and address the situation.
The letter highlights the need for urgent attention to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of road users. The Odeda Local Government has been urged to take necessary measures to restore order and sanity to the area
