The Aregbe, Abeokuta Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State recently apprehended a 17-year old boy, Jamiu Adebayo for allegedly defiling an eight-year old girl in his neighbourhood.
A new twist has however unfolded as it was learnt that the blood-soaked pant of the victim was initially concealed by the accused person for longer than a day until police detectives mounted intense pressures on him.
The incident happened on Saturday January 12, 2024 when the suspect allegedly lured his neighbour’s daughter of one Mr and Mrs Gabriel Olabode to his parents sitting room located at Road 3 Junction, Roolu Estate, Kangudu, Abeokuta.
It was learnt that Jamiu later instructed the girl to remove her underwear and proceeded straight to defile her.
In the process, blood gushed out and almost completely soaked the victims pant but the suspect had cleverly brought out another pant which she was ordered to wear, it was further learnt.
According to Police sources, the victim’s mother was away at the market when neighbours called to inform her that blood was dripping from her daughter’s private parts and that her attention was urgently needed.
Asked what was the cause of bleeding, the victim had told her mother and neighbours that a stick injured her in her private part.
Following intense pressure, she opened up that she had been raped by brother Jamiu who cajoled her never to reveal the truth.
At this point, the matter was reported at the Aregbe Police Division following which detectives arrived the scene and arrested Jamiu.
Contacted, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omotola Odutola confirmed the arrest.
Curiously, it was gathered that Jamiu initially denied he was responsible for the defilement of the girl until the next day when he confessed and was brought back home to surrender the blood-soaked pant which she had cleverly hidden in his room.
Pressures from community leaders and neighbours are desperately being mounted on the Olabode family to drop the case.
Last Friday, the Police authorities have charged the matter to court and arraigned Jamiu at the Isabo Family Court where the Magistrate ordered that he be remanded in Adigbe Juvenile Correctional Centre till next adjourned date fixed for March 7, 2024.
