IPOB demands removal of Justice Binta Nyako from Nnamdi Kanu’s case

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called for the removal of Justice Binta Nyako from the case involving its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement issued by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group alleged that Justice Nyako has been compromised by the Federal Government and therefore cannot deliver justice in the matter.

According to Powerful, Justice Nyako is under pressure from the Federal Government to rule against Kanu in order to protect her husband and son from their EFCC case. IPOB insists that Kanu is innocent and that Justice Nyako’s impartiality has been compromised.

The statement emphasizes that Kanu’s case is of great importance to Biafrans, both at home and in the diaspora, and demands that Justice Nyako step down from overseeing it.

IPOB asserts that Kanu’s only “offence” is championing Biafra’s self-determination movement and that he has not committed any offense known to the law.

Furthermore, the group warns of dire consequences if Justice Nyako does not step down from the case, calling on President Bola Tinubu and Nyako to release Kanu to prevent calamity in the country.

IPOB also appeals to human rights advocates and international organizations to intervene and ensure fairness in Nigeria’s judicial system.

They stress the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that Kanu receives a fair trial.

This demand comes following a threat by Nyako to adjourn the trial of Nnamdi Kanu indefinitely due to concerns raised by Kanu’s lawyer about his client’s rights being disrespected.
