Despite coming from a dysfunctional home, God’s grace changed my narrative – Pastor (Mrs) Mopelola Arowosafe

….. Urges women to cry out and speak up in the face of molestation

The founder of The Lineage of Grace Initiative for Family Foundation, Pastor (Mrs) Mopelola Arowosafe has revealed the secret behind the turnaround of her story in life despite coming from a dysfunctional home.

In an exclusive interview with ValidViewNetwork during the All female Conference tagged Changing The Narrative, Re-writing The Story, held in Abeokuta on Saturday, Mrs Arowosafe emphasized the role God’s grace played in her life.

The Pastor, life coach and mother noted that she encountered God at a very early age which helped turn her life for better.

“Even though I came from a very dysfunctional home, my parents are not together, my mum is not legally married to my father but by His grace this year my marriage turns 20 years. I know there must have been something that kept me and that is what I want to share with others.”

“I had the opportunity that not many are opportuned to have. I have the opportunity of knowing God very early in life. Right from my JSS 1. I also read a lot while growing up especially love novels. These have turned out to be driving force for me.”

Mrs Arowosafe said that a lot of young girls do not think beyond their immediate environment. Many of them have fallen victim of their parents past mistakes and errors, she lamented.

“In the course of my school outreaches, I discovered that a lot of young girls are living life within what they can see. Some of them, their mothers had made major mistakes in life and they also are following that path because that is the only picture they can see.”

On why she decided to hold the conference, Mrs Arowosafe explained that the aim is for young girls to see a different perspective to what they currently know and also serve as a guide to the youngsters on the path to follow.

“Number one thing why we organized this conference is so that you could come and see what is different from what you have been seeing in your environment.

Number two is that we usually don’t celebrate our scars, we are scared about it, we don’t want to talk about it.” At Lineage of Grace, we are sure that there is no scar that cannot be nurtured to give birth to a star.

“My driving force is my passion. I have passion for the young ones.”

“My motto is whatever you know, another person must know. If I know something that is good, then you must also know it. I won’t want someone to go through something that I know is not good just so they can discover it.”

The graduate of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta counselled those facing one form of molestation or the other not to be secretive about what they are passing through. She encouraged them to speak up.

“Don’t cage yourself. You need me just as I need you. Let’s come together and help ourselves.”

“One of the things that allow molestation to strive is secrecy. The strength of molestation is secrecy. The more you hide, the more the perpetrator feels empowered to continue, so cry out, speak up.”
