TOOMBS COUNTY, GA. — A quiet Monday afternoon in rural Uvalda shattered into an absolute nightmare when a 76-year-old woman allegedly executed her former husband and his new, younger girlfriend in a fit of violent jealousy.
Grace Edge is behind bars and facing multiple counts of malice murder after investigators say she stormed into a residence on McNatt Falls Road and opened fire without uttering a single warning.
According to Toombs County Sheriff Jordan Kight, the horrific bloodshed unfolded at approximately 2:19 p.m. Grace Edge allegedly marched into the home and unleashed a barrage of five gunshots. Her former spouse, 75-year-old Wallace Truman Edge, and his 40-year-old girlfriend, Pamela Cook, were struck a combined four times and pronounced dead at the scene.
Pamela’s 55-year-old mother, Diane Cook, was trapped inside the dwelling during the sudden ambush. In a harrowing 911 call placed while the terror was actively unfolding, a frantic Diane recounted the chilling moments to police dispatchers.
“She just come in start shooting,” the terrified mother cried to authorities, emphasizing that there was no argument or confrontation preceding the violence. “No, she come in just shooting.”
Diane Cook was shot in the arm during the rampage but managed to survive the attack with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators revealed that Grace and Wallace Edge had been legally divorced for over a decade. Despite the split, the pair maintained a turbulent, on-again, off-again dynamic—that is, until Wallace began a relationship with the much younger Pamela Cook.
“Mr. Edge had started dating Pamela, and it appears that, based on information we received, Grace was not accepting of the situation,” Sheriff Kight stated. Law enforcement records expose a volatile history between the divorced couple, revealing that authorities had previously been called to respond to dozens of domestic disputes involving the pair, though those prior flashpoints never resulted in arrests.
Rather than fleeing far into the night, investigators say Grace Edge committed a chilling final act: she allegedly drove straight from the blood-soaked mobile home directly to the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office and turned herself in.
Grace Edge is currently being held without bond at the Toombs County Detention Center, facing a staggering seven charges, including two counts of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, and three counts of aggravated assault. She awaits her initial court appearance as a shocked community reels from the senseless tragedy.
