​Ammunition Parcel Sent to FirstBank MD Sparks Security Probe

​The Lagos State Police Command has launched a high-level investigation following a major security breach involving a suspicious parcel sent to the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.

​The package, which was delivered directly to the bank chief’s private residence in the highbrow Ikoyi neighborhood of Lagos, was found to contain live ammunition.

​A Stealthy Delivery

​According to security sources, the parcel was dropped off at Alebiosu’s residence by an unidentified dispatch rider. The package was marked “confidential” and bore only the recipient’s name and address, completely omitting any return details or information identifying the sender.

​The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, briefed journalists on the development at the command headquarters, revealing that the incident was formally reported to law enforcement on May 7, 2026.

​”The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf,” Commissioner Fatai stated. The police chief noted that the package had initially been accepted by the bank executive’s private security guard before being handed over to Alebiosu, who discovered the hidden rounds.

​Forensic Tracking Underway

​While no arrests have been made yet, police detectives are currently pursuing several actionable intelligence leads. Forensic analysts and ballistics experts are examining the two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition—a caliber typically used in military-grade rifles—to trace their source of origin.

​Investigators are also working closely with the complainant, analyzing information regarding individuals who may have inside knowledge of the executive’s residence or potential motives behind the delivery.

​”The case is still under active investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves,” CP Fatai assured, adding that the command is deploying intelligence-led policing strategies to unmask those behind the delivery and will provide routine updates to the public.
