Several people sustained injuries on Monday afternoon following a collision between a commercial bus, popularly known as a “Danfo,” and a Toyota Camry on the Third Mainland Bridge, just before Adekunle Junction, inward Lagos Island.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Danfo, while traveling at high speed, struck the Camry from behind, causing the bus to somersault several times. The violent impact threw passengers into panic, with some escaping with minor injuries while others sustained more serious wounds. Bystanders rushed to assist as the scene unfolded, with many expressing shock at the severity of the crash.

Emergency responders, including the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, arrived promptly. They provided first aid to the injured and quickly evacuated them to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The swift response also ensured that the wreckage was cleared in time to prevent prolonged gridlock on the busy route.

Authorities have since restored normal traffic flow and are urging motorists to obey speed limits and remain vigilant, especially during peak hours. The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) emphasized the importance of road safety, warning that reckless driving and speeding remain leading causes of such accidents on the bridge.
