$2.1m Abuja Land Dispute: Jordan Wike Produces Passport After Court Order

A key piece of evidence has entered the courtroom in the $2.1 million Abuja land dispute involving Jordan Wike, son of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, after the defendant produced his American passport before the FCT High Court in Maitama.

The development came one day after the court ordered Jordan to produce the document following his evidence that he was outside Nigeria on September 26, 2025, the same date the claimants allege that he received $2.1 million in cash in connection with a proposed land transaction.

The passport was produced during Wednesday’s proceedings before Justice Sylvanus Oriji as cross-examination continued in suit number CV/008/2026, filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the development is a direct follow-up to ValidViewNetwork’s September 29 report, titled “$2.1M Land Deal Takes New Turn as Court Orders Wike’s Son to Produce American Passport,” which reported the court’s order after Jordan told the court that he travelled outside Nigeria using his American passport.

JORDAN PRODUCES THE PASSPORT

During the earlier proceedings, Jordan had been asked where he was on September 26, 2025, the date the claimants said they handed over the money.

He told the court that he was outside Nigeria. When asked which passport he used for the journey, Jordan said he travelled with his American international passport and indicated that he could produce it if required.

The claimants’ counsel, Hamza Dantani, subsequently asked the court to order him to bring the passport.

Justice Oriji granted the application.

On Wednesday, Jordan complied with the order and produced the American passport in court.

According to reports of the proceedings, the court made a photocopy of the document for its records and returned the original to Jordan. The judge, however, directed his lawyer to ensure that the original passport is produced whenever it becomes necessary during the continuation of the case.

WHY THE PASSPORT BECAME IMPORTANT

The passport became significant because of a direct dispute over Jordan’s whereabouts on the date of the alleged payment.

The claimants, Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, allege that $2.1 million was handed to Jordan on September 26, 2025, at a residence in Gwarimpa, Abuja.

Jordan’s account is different. He told the court that he was outside Nigeria on that date and had travelled using his American passport.

That testimony prompted the application that led to the passport being produced. The production of the passport, however, does not by itself determine whether the claimants’ allegations are true or establish that Jordan received or did not receive the $2.1 million.

The court is still hearing evidence from both sides.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the passport is therefore relevant to the parties’ competing accounts of Jordan’s whereabouts, while the wider question of whether the alleged $2.1 million payment occurred and who received it remains before the court.

WHAT THE CLAIMANTS SAY HAPPENED

The case arose from an alleged real estate arrangement involving land in two prominent Abuja locations, Katampe New Extension and Guzape New Extension.

According to the claimants’ case, they had earlier met Jordan in London and subsequently developed a business relationship. They alleged that Jordan later introduced a real estate opportunity involving the development of residential properties in Abuja.

The proposed arrangement, according to the claimants’ account, involved Jordan providing land while the other party was to contribute funds for the development.

The claimants said the proposed project involved 1.7 hectares in Guzape and 1.5 hectares at Katampe, with a wider arrangement under which commercial residential properties would be developed and proceeds shared between the parties.

The ICIR, reporting on the case, also said the claimants alleged that Jordan undertook to facilitate the acquisition of 30 hectares in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

THE $2.1M PAYMENT CLAIM

The dispute escalated when the claimants alleged that they eventually paid Jordan $2.1 million in cash. They allege that the money was handed over on September 26, 2025, in Abuja.

They identified Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki and Sai Wani as persons present during the alleged transaction, while they said Jordan was accompanied by Onor Sandy.

The claimants further alleged that the $2.1 million represented payment connected with the proposed land transaction. They claimed that $2 million was intended for Jordan’s father, Nyesom Wike, while $100,000 was allegedly for Jordan himself.

These remain allegations contained in the claimants’ case.

CLAIMANTS SAY THEY DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH THE LAND

According to the claimants, problems emerged after the alleged payment. They said they later discovered that the land they believed Jordan was providing was not owned by him and that another company was preparing to develop the properties.

The claimants said they subsequently demanded a refund after discovering the situation. They alleged that their demand did not produce the desired response and that Jordan eventually became unreachable.

They subsequently approached the court seeking recovery of the alleged $2.1 million.

The claimants are also seeking other reliefs, including damages and interest, according to the court documents.

JORDAN DENIES RECEIVING THE MONEY

Jordan has denied the allegations. During the proceedings, he adopted his statement on oath and maintained his defence against the claim.

He denied receiving the $2.1 million and denied knowledge of the alleged transaction. He was represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ogwu Onoja.

Jordan also denied knowing some of the people whom the claimants identified in connection with the alleged transaction.

During cross-examination, he was shown a document containing a signature which the claimants associated with the transaction.

Jordan maintained that he did not sign the document. “I don’t know him. I didn’t collect or sign any document,” he told the court. He also told the court that the signature attributed to him on the contract document was forged.

When asked whether he had reported the alleged forgery to the police, he answered that he had not.

COURT ALSO ORDERS HANDWRITING AND SIGNATURE SAMPLES

The passport was not the only development arising from the cross-examination. Counsel to the claimants also asked the court to direct Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each on a plain sheet of paper.

The defence did not oppose the request.

Justice Oriji granted the application. The exercise could become relevant if the disputed signatures on documents connected to the transaction are later subjected to comparison or examination.

VOICE NOTE ALSO FEATURES IN CROSS-EXAMINATION

The proceedings also touched on a voice note transcription that had previously been admitted as evidence.

Jordan was later shown a Voice note transcription dated October 17, 2025. When asked whether there was any discussion relating to money in the document, Jordan acknowledged that there was. “Yes, that is what appears here,” he said, according to the report.

He nevertheless maintained that he had no physical meeting with Safwan Garba on September 26, 2025.

WHAT THE COURT HAS AND HAS NOT DECIDED

The production of the passport and the admission of a copy into the court record should not be confused with a determination of the underlying dispute.

The court has not ruled that Jordan received the $2.1 million.It has also not ruled that the claimants’ allegations are false.

The passport was produced because Jordan had testified that he was outside Nigeria on the date the claimants said the alleged cash transaction took place.

The wider dispute, including the alleged payment, the land arrangement, the disputed documents and the parties’ competing accounts, remains before the court.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the proceedings have so far established a clear contest of evidence rather than a final judicial finding.

The claimants are relying on their account of the alleged transaction and Jordan maintains that he neither received the money nor participated in the transaction alleged against him.

CASE MOVES TO DECEMBER

After Wednesday’s proceedings, Justice Oriji adjourned the matter. The case will now continue on December 1, 2 and 14, 2026.

Jordan’s lawyer had requested time to subpoena witnesses to support the defence, and the court granted the request after the claimants raised no objection.

The next phase of the case is therefore expected to bring further evidence as both sides attempt to establish their respective accounts of the disputed transaction.

ValidViewNetwork reports that the court’s decision to receive the passport marks a new evidentiary stage in a case that began with a disputed $2.1 million land transaction and has now expanded to questions about Jordan’s whereabouts, disputed signatures, documentary evidence and the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment.

The central issues in the case remain matters for judicial determination. The production of Jordan Wike’s American passport may assist the court in examining his account of his whereabouts, but it does not by itself resolve the wider dispute over the alleged $2.1 million payment or ownership of the proposed land.

As the matter moves to December, the outcome will depend on the evidence presented by both sides and the court’s assessment of that evidence. Until the High Court reaches a final determination, the allegations against Jordan should remain treated as allegations, while his denials remain part of his defence.
