Uyo, Akwa Ibom State –Chief Patrick Ukah, former Secretary to the Delta State Government and current Director General of the Delta State Capital Development Agency, has been elected as a Council Member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). His election took place today at the Institute’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), currently underway at Ceedapeg Hotels in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The news was met with jubilation by the Delta State delegation to the NIPR AGM. Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq., Public Relations Executive for the NIPR Delta Chapter, confirmed Ukah’s victory in a statement released on Thursday. He noted that Ukah, a respected Fellow of the Institute, was among seventeen individuals elected to the NIPR’s highest echelon.
Oghenesivbe lauded Ukah’s overwhelming selection, attributing it to his well-established reputation as a collaborative leader, a top-tier professional, and an individual of unimpeachable integrity.
In a related development, the Chairman of the NIPR Delta State Chapter, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe, was also inducted as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations during the ongoing AGM in Uyo.
Chief (Elder) Emma Ogidi, a senior fellow of the Institute and a member of the Delta delegation, extended his congratulations to Chief Ukah, emphasizing that his election to the Council strategically positions the Delta State chapter within the national framework of the Institute. Ogidi expressed confidence that Ukah’s tenure as a Council Member would significantly accelerate the growth of the NIPR chapter in Delta State. He also congratulated Mr. Osakwe on his elevation to the prestigious College of Fellows.
The Delta State NIPR chapter is currently in a strong position, poised to assert its rightful place in both local and national NIPR affairs, with a renewed focus on elevating professionalism and ethical standards within the public relations industry.
The NIPR National Conference and AGM, a flagship event for the Institute, commenced on Monday, May 19th, and is set to conclude on Friday, May 23rd, 2025, in Uyo. The event, which has drawn over 1,000 delegates from across Nigeria, aims to redefine the structure of public relations in Nigeria and beyond, with a focus on exploring innovative strategies and charting the future of the profession.
This year’s conference theme is “Solid Minerals: A Solid Path to Nigeria’s Sustainable Economic Recovery – The Challenge for Public Relations.”
