Ahmedabad/Bangkok –A chilling coincidence has emerged from the tragic Air India plane crash that claimed 265 lives yesterday in Ahmedabad, India. The sole survivor, a British man whose identity has not yet been fully released by authorities, was reportedly seated in seat 11A.
This revelation has sent shivers down the spine of a Thai actor-singer, Ruangsak Loychusak, who was the sole survivor of a deadly Thai Airways crash in 1998 – and was also seated in 11A.
Loychusak, who has spoken publicly about his harrowing experience surviving the Thai Airways Flight 261 crash in Surat Thani, Thailand, 27 years ago, expressed his profound shock upon learning of the Air India disaster and the eerie detail about the survivor’s seat. “It’s an unbelievable coincidence,” Loychusak reportedly stated, visibly shaken. “To think that someone else survived a plane crash from the exact same seat… it makes you wonder.”
Aviation experts are quick to point out that such coincidences, while remarkable, are likely purely statistical. “While it’s a fascinating and undoubtedly unsettling parallel for those involved, the specific seat number in a plane crash is generally not a factor in survival,” explained Dr. Anika Sharma, a leading aviation safety analyst. “Survival often depends on the nature of the impact, the location of the passenger relative to structural integrity, and immediate access to exits.”
However, for Ruangsak Loychusak, the connection is deeply personal. His survival of the 1998 Thai Airways crash, which killed 101 people, was considered miraculous at the time. Now, another individual has emerged from a devastating aviation disaster, occupying the very same seat.
Meanwhile, investigations into the Air India crash are intensifying. An NSG (National Security Guard) team has been deployed to the crash site in Ahmedabad. Initial reports suggest potential “engine failure” was heard from the cockpit moments before the catastrophic descent, according to frantic final communications from the pilots. Experts are also scrutinizing potential pilot error, with one expert theorizing a “terrifyingly simple mistake” may have been made by the co-pilot.
Heartbreaking stories are emerging from the victims, including a family of five who took a final smiling photo before takeoff and two young sisters who were surprising their grandmother for her birthday.
While the causes of the Air India tragedy are still under rigorous investigation, the curious case of seat 11A adds a layer of uncanny mystery to an already devastating event, leaving many to ponder the role of fate in such catastrophic incidents.
