The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring accessible and affordable education, as well as improving the quality of life for students with special needs.
During a courtesy visit by presenters of the program ‘Special People Compass’ from Ogun State Television (OGTV) to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, emphasized the government’s dedication to providing quality education.
He highlighted initiatives such as complementary meals for both day students and boarders at Special Needs Schools to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
Arigbabu also mentioned various infrastructural improvements undertaken in schools and collaborating secondary schools, including classroom renovations, toilet upgrades, hostel enhancements, and the revival of the moribund state Braille Book Production Centre.

Additionally, the Ministry distributed over 100 wheelchairs and white canes to aid mobility and punctuality for visually impaired individuals.
“I have always been passionate about children with special needs, giving them adequate attention at all times. They are never left behind in the Education Revitalization Agenda of this administration,” he stated.
During the visit, one of the presenters, Mr. Abiodun Omoyayi, commended the administration for its unwavering efforts to ensure that people with special needs receive equal attention and opportunities.
Separately, Prof. Arigbabu highlighted the government’s interventions aimed at achieving academic excellence in secondary schools during a meeting with the new executive members of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
These interventions include regular payment of teachers’ salaries, classroom renovations, rehabilitation and construction, payment of bursaries to indigenous students, and funding for running costs.
In response, the state President of ANCOPSS, Mr. Oluyinka Adekoya, expressed appreciation for the government’s support and pledged allegiance to its education policies.
