Prof. Adeyemi Alimi, a graduate of the prestigious Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and renowned epidemiologist has declared that his Golden anniversary is an opportunity for him to renew his commitment to God and humanity and continually deploy his epidemiology expertise in solving the myriad of health challenges confronting man.
Truly, there cannot be a better way to celebrate a golden anniversary than this. To every heart that is appreciative there are numerous reasons to give thanks to God Almighty. Most importantly, every opportunity to see a new day let alone a new year deserves great thanks to the Almighty God for the privilege. Certainly, it is not every man that go to bed at night that is fortunate to see the dawn of a new day.
Prof. Adeyemi Alimi is appreciative of the mercies of God that has kept him to see the 50th anniversary. That a man was born 50 years ago, navigated the challenges of the formative stages, went through the elementary school at a time when sicknesses and diseases killed many and touch 50 with vitality and meaningful impact to lives is worthy of celebration.
“Thank you, Lord, for keeping your covenant with me over the last 50 years. As I begin the next 50, I look forward to receiving more success and a much more blissful life full of peace, prosperity, good health, and sound mind. Please continue to guide, guard, and shower your blessing on me, my family, and those who bless me and take delight in my person.”
Recalling some of the challenges he had passed through, Adeyemi posited that he has numerous reasons to give thanks to God Almighty. His life depicts that of a man who God prepared and preserved for His own glory. How does one explain this?
” I can never forget the day I had a stroke which lasted for months. It was a terrible experience. Surprisingly, the day I received the notification of winning the USA DV Visa Lottery, it was the very day I was discharged from the hospital after suffering from a stroke for four months. Until the third month, while in the hospital, my right hand and leg were paralyzed and my speech was slurred. Miraculously, after the third month, everything started to normalize, to the amazement of my doctors”.
Corroborating Adeyemi Alimi, his son had made a thought provoking and emotion-ladden submission.
Ahmad Adedeji Alimi wrote : Though pain he suffered from a stroke years back
His spirit never broke
His creative mind and brilliance
never dimmed
Though his hands, legs, and speech were weak he never flustered
His hope and faith never dwindled
All held in the extensive repertoire
Albeit four months
The anatomical parts got restored miraculously
His health improved
To God be the Glory
He got sent back home
And though I was a few years old
Almost as if foretold
The day he was discharged
came the notification he won the USA Visa Lottery
And off we departed
to the land of the free
of eagles and opportunities
And to this day, we live
And on this day
I wish him the 50th birthday
My dad, my hero

with a pure soul
and superlative cerebrum
A true scholar
My father has taught tens of thousands
Many a talent forged from his hands and tutelage
Inspired many more
to chase their dreams and aspirations
And through which fought away
the tendrils of ignorance and lethargy
And his pen and tutoring
mightier than even the sharpest sword
slashed away the core slow-wittedness
to dust, to smithereens
Pouring open a torrent of light
of hope
of ambition
into the hearts and minds
of the students he teaches
My father, to whom
even the most unwilling soul
he could reach
Is it math, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or physics
or is it coding, environmental science, or epidemiology
My father
the best at what he does
No wonder he is adjudged by all his students
whether high schoolers or college students
by all and sundry
as the best teacher in the world
Happy 50th birthday
My dad, their mentors, my hero, my everything”
