The major opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have asked Yakubu Mahmood to resign as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The parties also demanded that the presidential election be conducted afresh.
The opposition parties made the demand at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.
Some opposition parties had stage a walk out during the collation of results for the presidential election Monday after alleging discrepancy in the number of votes announced by the electoral umpire.
They also want INEC to upload the result from each polling units on the IREV portal.
Spokesperson for the PDP presidential campaign council, Dino Melaye accused INEC of colluding with the ruling All Progressive Congress to perpetrate electoral fraud.
Melaye also asked INEC to “suspend national collation immediately and address the complaints raised by parties relating to BVAS bypass and electronic transmission of results.
On his part, the National chairman of LP, Julius Abure said a fresh presidential election should be conducted in accordance with the electoral act.
He said: “INEC compromised even before the collation of election results from the polling units, this election is not free and far from being fair or transparent. There is ongoing cancellation of results across the country.
“We call for the conduct of a fresh election as allowed under the electoral act, the results being announced are heavily doctored.”
