The Plateau State Government has taken action against illegal constructions in Jos, the state capital. Owners of these structures were found to be building on government property and other unauthorized locations without the necessary approvals.
During a crackdown at a construction site situated at the old Legislative Quarters along Bauchi Ring Road in Jos on Monday, a taskforce led by Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Joshua Ubandoma, Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, and General Manager of the Jos Metropolitan Development Board, Hart Bankat, arrested 17 individuals.
Ubandoma informed reporters that this operation was part of routine surveillance efforts by the ministries and agencies to restore order in the state capital and areas governed by the Jos master plan.

“We have issued notices for those in possession of government properties to vacate. We have also warned against erecting illegal structures in the state to ensure sanity is restored,” Ubandoma stated.
He emphasized the necessity of obtaining approvals and appropriate titles from the Ministry of Lands and Survey before starting construction, warning of legal consequences for non-compliance.
Commissioner Ashoms reiterated the government’s commitment to upholding law and order, emphasizing that all property owners in Plateau State must abide by the law.
