In anticipation of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration, the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has deployed 400 traffic officers to manage traffic flow throughout the state.

OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adekoya Adesagba (rtd.), announced the deployment while addressing officers in Ibadan. He stated that this measure aims to ensure smooth traffic conditions before, during, and after the Eid celebrations, following the Federal Government’s declaration of Monday, March 31st, and Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, as public holidays.
Adesagba urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and exercise patience, especially near prayer grounds. He also cautioned against common traffic violations such as driving against traffic, disobeying traffic signals, reckless driving, overloading, and speeding.
Emphasizing the importance of patience and adherence to traffic regulations, he noted that “reckless overtaking stems from impatience, which often leads to avoidable tragedies.”
He extended his best wishes to the Muslim community, encouraging all residents to embrace peace and unity, values deeply rooted in the Holy Quran.
A strong warning was issued to potential traffic offenders, advising them to refrain from violations or face the full consequences of the law.
