A 32-year-old man was killed in a boat accident at a jetty in the Badagry neighborhood of Lagos State, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.Sources claim that the tragedy happened on Thursday night at the jetty following a head-on collision between two boats, one coming from Lagos and the other from Badagry.
The event happened at a jetty in Akarakumo at 10:05 p.m., according to Mr. Victor Idowu, a member of the town, who spoke with NAN on Friday in Badagry.Residents of the neighborhood came out to see what was going on after being awakened by the sound and voice of the boatmen, he claimed. During the incident, one of the passengers was crushed and fell into the river. He was pulled out of the sea with help from the locals and the boatman. When we pulled him from the lagoon, we saw that his chest had been hurt.
I informed them that a general hospital should be the finest while some urged that he be transported to a private facility.Idowu asserted that there was no doctor available to treat the victim when they arrived at the hospital. He claimed that after receiving first aid care, the victim stayed in discomfort until 4:10 a.m., at which point he was taken away for an X-ray.He added that as soon as they returned from the location where they had gone for the x-ray, the man passed away. His two ribs had been broken, according to Bakare. We could not handle his case, so we wanted to refer him to another hospital in Lagos. However, we realized that if we sent him to Lagos at that time, he might not make it halfway before passing away. Therefore, we had to stabilize him; they had taken an X-ray of him this morning. Due to the severity of the injuries, he passed away as he was emerging. He continued by saying that the individual was given the required care by hospital staff, noting that his injury was fatal and caused his death.
One of their stakeholders in Badagry had reported the event to Mr. Ibrahim Famuyiwa, Head of Operations for the Lagos State Waterways Authority, according to NAN. He claimed he was awaiting the opposing account from their local employees in order to balance it.
