Two Nigerian girls, Akachukwu Blessed Nwachukwu and Ifunanya Gabriella Okoye, both aged 10 and from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have made Nigeria proud by winning the 2025 Technovation Global Summit (Beginner Division) with their innovative artificial intelligence (AI) app called Stay Woke. The app uses facial recognition and voice interaction technology to detect driver drowsiness and distraction in real time and issues alerts designed to prevent accidents. Competing as Team Appsolute, they surpassed finalists from Japan, Canada, Spain, and other countries to claim the world grand prize at the summit.

Technovation, the largest tech entrepreneurship program for girls aged 8 to 18, attracted over 33,000 participants from 117 countries in 2025, with more than 11,000 completing the program and over 3,200 tech-based solutions developed globally. Their achievement not only highlights Nigerian ingenuity but also serves as inspiration for young girls everywhere to pursue technology and innovation.
The girls attributed their success to the expert mentorship of Somkenechukwu Mamah, founder of Code Ambassadors Academy, a STEM-accredited institution that trains children in coding, robotics, AI, and design. The academy has empowered over 7,000 Nigerian children with essential tech skills. Their mentor described the victory as a significant breakthrough for African innovation, demonstrating that talent and creativity transcend age and borders.

This historic win by Team Appsolute is a beacon of hope and encouragement for young innovators in Nigeria and Africa, proving that they can compete and excel on the global technology stage.
