
The Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, has officially appointed Professor Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi as its new Vice Chancellor. The announcement was made by Mr. Abdullahi Bardi, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council.
Professor Oluwafemi’s appointment followed a rigorous and transparent selection process that lasted three months, involving expert evaluations, public advertisements, and comprehensive interviews. She previously served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of NMU and was formerly the Head of Department at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State.
Mr. Bardi expressed strong confidence in Professor Oluwafemi’s leadership abilities, emphasizing her pivotal role in advancing the university’s mission to support Nigeria’s growing blue economy sector. Her academic and administrative experience is expected to drive the institution’s development and enhance its contribution to maritime education and research in Nigeria.
Professor Oluwafemi’s appointment marks a significant milestone for NMU as it continues to expand its influence in maritime studies and align with national economic priorities.
