The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (AC OPHK), intensified counterterrorism operations in Borno State on Wednesday, 17 September 2025. Acting on credible intelligence and extensive surveillance, precision air strikes were launched around 10:50 a.m. at Bula Madibale in the Gezuwa general area after unusual militant activity was detected.
Reconnaissance confirmed an assembly of about 45 terrorists, some arriving on motorcycles and bicycles from various directions, with two terrorist flags hoisted on site identifying it as a key insurgent stronghold and rallying point. The coordinated air interdiction dealt a devastating blow, neutralizing several terrorists and destroying the flagged structure along with other hostile assets at the location.
This operation forms part of the broader efforts of Operation HADIN KAI to deny insurgents the freedom to regroup or mount attacks on innocent communities in northeastern Nigeria. The NAF reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the affected regions.
The Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, emphasized that the strike underscored the military’s steadfast resolve to combat terrorism effectively and protect civilians from insurgent threats.
The Nigerian Air Force’s ongoing air campaign, including this latest strike, illustrates its enhanced intelligence-driven precision tactics and partnership with ground forces to dismantle terrorist networks in Borno and the North East. This is within the context of persistent Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) insurgency activities that continue to challenge regional security.
