IBADAN, OYO STATE – Former Governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has been appointed to chair the upcoming 2025 World Egungun Festival.
This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, during a recent courtesy visit to the esteemed traditional leader at his Ibadan residence.
Dr. Olatunbosun conveyed the Ministry’s formal request for Oba Ladoja’s consent to chair the prestigious annual event and sought his royal blessings for its success. He emphasized the global significance of the World Egungun Festival as a prominent cultural showcase that attracts participants and tourists from across the world.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to the promotion of cultural heritage, unity, and tourism through such significant events. He expressed optimism for a successful and impactful celebration in 2025. On behalf of the Ministry, Dr. Olatunbosun conveyed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and Oba Ladoja’s willingness to play a pivotal role in the cultural celebration, which aims to honor the rich traditions of the Yoruba people.
In his response, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, graciously accepted the invitation to serve as the Chairman and Royal Father of the Day for the grand festival.
