Renowned Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate, has petitioned Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, demanding reconsideration of his exclusion from the nomination process for the vacant Awujale of Ijebuland stool. The letter, dated January 8, 2026, and penned by his counsel Wahab Shittu SAN, accuses the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and Ijebu-Ode Local Government of violating due process under Ogun State’s Obas and Chiefs Law.

Background on Succession Dispute
The Awujale stool became vacant following the passing of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona after 65 years on the throne, triggering a rotational process among Ijebuland’s four ruling houses: Anikinaiya, Fusengbuwa, Fidipote, and Gbelegbuwa. Legal experts affirm that Fusengbuwa’s turn mandates nomination exclusively from its male-line descendants, dismissing claims from other houses.
K1 first expressed interest in December 2025, submitting a letter of intent to Fusengbuwa, which acknowledged it but required detailed lineage forms, candidate application, and an irrevocable undertaking by an extended deadline of December 10. The house later clarified K1 does not belong to its lineage, stating nomination forms were not issued to him as the process had advanced.
Details of K1’s Petition
Addressed to the Ogun State Executive Council, the letter titled “Representation Against The Wrongful Attempts Not To Follow Due Process” highlights a January 6 directive from Ijebu-Ode Local Government Secretary (Ref: IOLG/584/11/34) for Fusengbuwa to nominate within 14 days. K1 faults a subsequent notice by Prince Adeleye Lateef Ademuyiwa, purportedly the family’s PRO, requiring candidates to collect forms and face a screening panel chaired by Prince Alhaji Mutiu Adenuga on January 12 at Bisrod Hall.
These steps, per the petition, disenfranchise ruling house members by limiting participation to delegates selected on January 10, contravening chieftaincy declarations and state laws that entitle all members to nominate freely.
Upcoming Ruling House Meeting
Fusengbuwa has confirmed its family nomination meeting for Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12 noon in Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode, following clearance from Ogun’s Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. This follows an earlier halt due to procedural errors, aiming to avert litigation.
