A group known as Remo Select Group has taken steps to broker peace between the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his main contender in the March 18 governorship election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu with a visit to the Balogun of Remo Land, Sir Dr. Kensington Adebutu in London.
The group in its letter addressed to the Odole Oodua during the visit, a copy of which was seen by ValidViewNetwork noted that the election and its outcome had polarised the Remo people including the Royal Fathers.
“The nexus has polarised Remo people greatly including our Royal Fathers and this makes our intervention a necessity. Thus, we feel challenged within Remoland and across Ogun state to take immediate steps to broker peace between the two with a view to not allowing matters to degenerate further.”
It noted that the seemly dent in the relationship between the state governor and Sir Adebutu unsettles the group greatly.
The group disclosed that it has held a meeting with Governor Abiodun with a view to reconciling all parties.
They, however, stated that the seemly tension has brought palpable threat of bloodletting and sought the backing of Adebutu in their reconciliatory mission.
“We must mention that there is palpable threat of bloodletting and heightened tension across our land. People are now living in trepidation of imminent attack. Compounding the situation are petitions being made to security agencies asking for police protection ditto to traditional rulerd demanding intervention.”
The reconciliatory moves, the group said would be extended to all concerned including Hon. Ladi Adebutu and the Royal Fathers
The entourage was led by the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi
