The multi-story Gbajabiamila Public Junior and Senior Secondary School buildings in Itire-Ikate LCDA, Surulere, Lagos State, have been completed and are set for commissioning in October 2025. Facilitated by Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the project started in October 2021 during his tenure as Speaker of the House of Representatives, fulfilling a promise made to the Itire-Ikate community after nearly two decades without a public secondary school since the LCDA’s creation in 2003.

The school, which features fully equipped classrooms, computer labs, and modern furniture, addresses a critical educational infrastructure gap where parents previously had to send their children to neighboring areas for secondary education. The initiative was driven by appeals from community leaders, including former Itire-Ikate LCDA Council Chairman Hon. Ahmed Apatira.

This milestone adds to Gbajabiamila’s impactful interventions across Surulere 1 and 2 federal constituencies, which include road reconstructions and solar street lighting in Coker Aguda and other parts of Itire-Ikate LCDAs. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has mandated the Ministry of Education to commence staff deployment immediately to prepare the school for full academic activities post-commissioning.

The Lagos State Government expressed appreciation for Gbajabiamila’s transformative contribution, aligning with the THEMES Agenda, while local legislative representatives also praised this historic investment in youth education. Upon commissioning, operational control will be transferred to Lagos State to ensure sustainable management.

This project underlines Gbajabiamila’s dedication to educational and community development from his legislative role through his current executive position. It marks a significant advancement for Itire-Ikate, promising a positive impact on generations of students in the area
