Seme Border, Ogun State – In a dramatic turn of events, a Nigerian Immigration Officer, Prince Orji Ugochukwu, known on Facebook as Okeosisi Ugo, is being hailed as a hero after he reportedly rejected a N10 million cash bribe and an iPhone offered by a suspected ritualist, Ezeani, also known as Ichie Billion, to facilitate his escape from Nigeria. The alleged ritualist is believed to be connected to horrific crimes, including burying victims alive in a soakaway in his compound in Umumba, Ezeagu, Enugu State.
The incident, which transpired on Wednesday afternoon, was recounted by Officer Ugochukwu himself in a message shared with a relative who wishes to remain anonymous. The relative provided this exclusive information, including screenshots of the officer’s account.
According to Officer Ugochukwu, while on duty at his checkpoint in Gbaji along the Seme road, he spotted a young man on a motorcycle whose face seemed familiar. The officer had reportedly received prior information and seen viral pictures of a man attempting to flee, suspected to be the notorious Ezeani.
“I tried to stop the bike carrying him but he refused to stop,” Officer Ugochukwu stated. “So I quickly jumped on another bike and followed him immediately, and I caught him at the other immigration checkpoint in front.”
Upon confronting the suspect, Officer Ugochukwu showed him the viral pictures and outlined the alleged crimes. The man initially denied his identity, claiming the person in the picture was his brother and that he was returning from a bank in Agbara, not a native doctor.
However, the situation escalated when the suspect allegedly attempted to bribe the officer. “He decided to offer me 10 million naira (blood money) to let him go,” Officer Ugochukwu recounted. “I refused to collect his blood money.”
The suspect then allegedly tried to spin a tale of being framed, claiming people set him up because it was his turn to become the Igwe (traditional ruler) of his community. Undeterred, Officer Ugochukwu maintained his refusal
In a desperate bid, the suspect reportedly increased his offer, adding an iPhone 13 Pro Max and a Tecno Camon 19, stating the iPhone alone was worth a million naira. “He said that I should please let him go, but I refused his offer and forced him back to my checkpoint at Gbaji Seme road,” the officer stated.
It was at his checkpoint that Officer Ugochukwu took pictures of the suspect, which are now reportedly circulating online, and sent a signal to his command, the Seme Border Patrol Command.
“When I confirmed that he was truly the one, I quickly handcuffed him and moved him to our command head office immediately,” Officer Ugochukwu explained, adding, “Even my colleagues were doubting because nobody recognized him except me.”
While the brave actions of Officer Ugochukwu are being widely praised, authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the arrest of Ezeani, AKA Ichie Billion. This developing story highlights the crucial role of vigilant border control in preventing alleged criminals from escaping justice. Further details are expected to emerge as investigations continue.
