FUNAAB 33rd Convocation

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), renowned as Africa’s premier agricultural university, has rolled out a detailed lineup for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, set for January 23 to 31, 2026. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde issued the invitation on behalf of the university’s leadership, urging alumni, parents, stakeholders, and the public to join the festivities that highlight academic milestones and institutional progress. ​ This annual event builds on FUNAAB’s tradition of blending faith, innovation, and celebration, as seen in prior convocations like the 32nd in 2025. ​

Detailed Schedule

Activities kick off with spiritual undertones and build to a grand finale:

• Friday, January 23: Jumat Service at the University Mosque, 1:00 p.m. ​
• Sunday, January 25: Interdenominational Service at Chapel of Grace, 10:00 a.m. ​
• Wednesday, January 28: Press Conference at Red Chamber, 10:00 a.m. ​
• Friday, January 30: Project commissioning across campus sites, 10:00 a.m., followed by Convocation Lecture at Red Chamber, 3:00 p.m. ​
• Saturday, January 31: Main Convocation Ceremony at Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building, 10:00 a.m., awarding first degrees, higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and prizes. ​

These events reflect FUNAAB’s holistic approach, integrating religious reflection, media outreach, infrastructure showcases, and academic honors. 

Lecture Spotlight

The convocation lecture, “Integrating Agriculture and Youth Development: A New Paradigm for the Nigerian Education System,” will be delivered by Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc. Aig-Imoukhuede, former Group Managing Director of Access Bank (2002-2013), transformed the bank into a leading financial powerhouse and champions corporate governance and philanthropy. His insights are poised to spark discussions on agriculture-focused education and youth empowerment, aligning with FUNAAB’s goal of producing innovative graduates for Nigeria’s socio-economic growth. ​ The lecture promises to address pressing national challenges through private-sector lenses. ​
