On Monday, tragic accidents in Ogun State resulted in the deaths of six individuals and left 20 others injured, with an additional 26 individuals thankfully escaping unharmed across three separate incidents.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), disclosed these details in a statement to the press.
The initial accident occurred at Fidiwo on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway around 3:40 am involving a Toyota bus (with license plate GBJ915XA) and a Golf car lacking registration. This collision led to two fatalities and two injuries attributed to wrongful overtaking, excessive speed, and loss of control.
The injured were transported to Victory Hospital in Ogere, while the deceased were taken to the FOS Morgue in Ipara Remo.
A subsequent crash took place around 5:18 am on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway following Ajede junction, involving a Toyota bus (license plate RBC213XT). Of the 20 individuals involved (including five adult males, nine adult females, two male children, and four female children), 17 sustained injuries (nine adult females, three adult males, three female children, and two male children), resulting in three fatalities (two adult males and one female child).

The cause was attributed to speed and driver fatigue. Injured victims were taken to Roona Hospital and General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode, while deceased bodies were placed in the General Hospital morgue.
Lastly, a third incident occurred around 2:00 am on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore-Benin Expressway near the Ajebamidele bridge. A luxury bus heading southeast collided with a wrongly parked IVECO truck (registration TRE265XB), causing injuries to two passengers and claiming the life of one male adult.
The remaining 26 passengers emerged unscathed from this mishap. The injured were treated at Olaolu Clinic in Ajebandele, and the deceased was laid to rest in the morgue.
Anthony Uga, the FRSC Ogun Sector Command Sector Commander, urged motorists to drive cautiously and ensure sufficient rest to avoid fatigue. He also expressed condolences to the families of the victims, praying for them to find solace during this difficult time.
