OKE-AGBE – Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday kicked off a comprehensive working tour of the state’s 18 local government areas, starting with the four Akoko councils: North-West, North-East, South-East, and South-West.
The tour, billed as a “thank-you visit” to grassroots supporters, drew massive turnouts of traditional rulers, APC faithful, and residents. In Oke-Agbe, headquarters of Akoko North-West LGA, thousands welcomed the governor’s entourage with songs and dances.
“I am here to greet and thank you. Some say politicians vanish after elections, but I have no election now—I’m just appreciating your support,” Aiyedatiwa told the cheering crowd at the LGA secretariat.
There, he commissioned five utility vehicles for traditional rulers and a bus for the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE). He also flagged off palliatives, including rice and cash, for vulnerable groups—a gesture repeated across the visited areas.

The governor stressed the non-campaign nature of the tour, fulfilling his pre-election pledge to regularly inspect projects and engage communities. “This is about gratitude to God and you for our victories,” he said, crediting residents for APC’s sweep of all 18 LGAs and the State House of Assembly.
Pushing APC Agenda for 2027
Aiyedatiwa used the platform to solidify APC loyalty ahead of 2027, announcing the party’s endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election. “At national and state levels, Tinubu is our candidate. His reforms are driving growth—look at the dualisation of Ikare-Akungba road here in Akoko,” he noted.
Online reports confirm the road project, funded via federal allocations post-Tinubu’s economic policies, is 40% complete and set to ease traffic in the Akoko axis. The governor hailed Tinubu’s impact for attracting opposition governors to APC and hinted at a major defection: his 2024 PDP rival, Agboola Ajayi, who reportedly met him recently and plans to join APC soon.

Urging party unity, Aiyedatiwa warned against infighting. “No fights in APC—we resolve issues through dialogue. Tolerance will secure our 2027 victory,” he said, a nod to recent primaries tensions.
Development Promises and Inspections
Beyond thanks, the tour doubled as a working visit. In Akoko North-East’s Ikare-Akungba, Aiyedatiwa inspected ongoing roadworks and promised accelerated completion. Sources add he announced solar-powered boreholes and classroom renovations for the area.
Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, speaking in Oka-Akoko (Akoko South-West), praised the turnout and reiterated commitments to inclusive governance. In Isua (Akoko South-East), the governor paid homage to the Olua of Isua, distributing more palliatives.

Local leaders, including the Akoko North-West Chairman, lauded Aiyedatiwa’s accessibility. “This governor delivers—vehicles for obas and NULGE show he means business,” said APC chieftain, Hon. Segun Oginni.
The tour continues Tuesday across other zones, with promises of more projects like health centers and farm inputs. Analysts see it as a masterstroke to consolidate APC dominance in oil-rich Ondo ahead of federal polls.
