Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has praised former governor Rauf Aregbesola for his dedicated service and impactful efforts in various public offices over the years.
Oluwaseun Abosede, Publicity and Organising Secretary of Omolaubi Progressives—a group with Aregbesola as the grand patron—shared in a statement on Sunday that Adeleke made these remarks at an event in Osogbo celebrating Aregbesola’s 67th birthday.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, Governor Adeleke noted that his administration is building on Aregbesola’s legacy of expanding infrastructure by completing projects initiated during his tenure.
Adeleke expressed, “You are blessed. You only know a core politician by the calibre of people following him when he is not in power. Seeing the calibre of people here today shows that you are grounded and that God is with you.”
Adeleke extended his administration’s and the PDP’s congratulations to Aregbesola, urging him to continue his good works.
He added, “You are reaping the fruits of your legacy and impact on the lives of the people, and I pray God grants you many more years in good health in service to Osun State.”

At the event, Aregbesola, who served as the Minister of Interior during President Mohammadu Buhari’s second term, emphasized that addressing underdevelopment in Nigeria requires leaders to prioritize the masses’ interests.
He stated that good leadership involves governance guided by the fear of God, dedication to humanity, and embarking on projects that ensure the prosperity of society.
Aregbesola asserted that discipline, courage, character, and competence are essential leadership attributes for any administration committed to serving the people.
He added, “We invite everyone to join the Omoluabi movement, regardless of ethnicity, religion, occupation, or economic status, as long as they adhere to our core values and character.”
Highlighting the importance of deploying political power in service of the people, Aregbesola said, “Leadership at every level must adopt the Omoluabi ethos in governance to overcome underdevelopment.
Governing with the fear of God and utmost dedication to humanity’s principles is the best way to lead.”
Aregbesola served as the 4th democratically elected governor of Osun State from November 27, 2010, to November 27, 2018, completing two terms.
Since Adeleke became governor in 2022, he and Aregbesola have maintained a cordial relationship.
