Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has flagged off the distribution of 300,000 10Kg bags of rice as palliative to residents and citizens of the state.
The Governor, during the flag-off ceremony held on Friday at the Arcade ground, Okemosan, Abeokuta, said the distribution of the palliative is an initiative of the Federal Government Nigeria led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
He disclosed that the palliative will be distributed through the polling units across the state for equity.
The governor assured that within a week the residents in the state will begin to feel the impact of the palliative, stressing that the members of Committee were meticulously chosen.
Governor Abiodun also inaugurated the central working committee headed by the Deputy Governor with eminent personalities to oversee the distribution and also inaugurate the local government palliative distribution committee.
He however, thanked the residents of the State for their patience and pleaded with them to continue to be patient with the new policy of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that Nigerians will soon begin to enjoy.
According to the governor “This is a Federal Government initiative under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that is been domesticated welfare in Ogun State”.
“Our desire in the first instance, is to distribute about 300,000 bags of 10Kg of Rice accross our 5, 400 polling units. We have decided to use polling units as a reference of distribution”.
“The committee that will be inaugurated accross Local governments as palliative distribution Committee which includes, the Council chairman, Community leaders, Religion leaders, CDCs, CDAs, representative of the Youths, Students, Iyalojas, Traditional institutions and others that they decide in a very helpful in ensuring the transparent implementations of distributing this palliative”.
“In my hope is that within one week our indigens and residents will begin to feel the impact of the distribution of this palliative with the effort of this Committee. We chose them carefully so that they would hold responsibly in your geo-political zones of the state”.
“Let me thank Mr. President for this initiative. Let me thank all of us particularly members of our unions who are so part of this Committee. I want to thank all of us for been patient with government. We know that it has not be easy, but you Know it is not easy to implement a policy like this; it certainly will come with some pain but will definitely can see the light at the end of the torment”.
“I want to plead with us to continue to be patient with us and begin to lift us all with the prayer both at the state level and the Federal level; together we continue to join hands as we build the future of this state and this country together”.
