ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday formally inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) for the 2027 general elections, declaring that the ruling party remains firmly united to renew its covenant with Nigerians.
At a high-powered ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President Tinubu charged party leaders and council members to secure their respective polling units, stressing that electoral success requires grassroots delivery rather than mere rhetoric.
Addressing a packed auditorium of governors, federal lawmakers, and political heavyweights across party lines, the President acknowledged counsel from party stakeholders—led by Progressive Governors Forum Chairman and Council Secretary, Hope Uzodimma—urging him not to let campaign rigors derail pressing governance responsibilities.
”You have warned me and asked me not to allow the rigour of the campaign to distract me from governance. I hear you. I am in full agreement with your decision,” President Tinubu stated. “Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause”.
While delegating extensive campaign mobilization to the council across states and local government areas, Tinubu promised to carve out time to speak directly with citizens, noting that critical national tasks, financial obligations, and investor relations must proceed unhindered.
The event took the form of a broad political carnival, notably featuring prominent figures from opposition and allied platforms—including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke (Accord Party), Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo (APGA), and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike (PDP)—who threw their weight behind the President’s re-election bid.
APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda praised the cross-party alignment as a testament to the tangible impact of the administration’s reform agenda. He urged the council to execute a peaceful, issue-driven campaign highlighting economic growth, tax reforms, and infrastructure milestones.
Director-General of the Campaign Council and former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, called for absolute cohesion, urging members to drop personal egos and focus squarely on delivering victory.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas also rallied support for the ticket, urging Nigerians to grant the administration a second term to fully consolidate its long-term economic recovery and development plans.
