Veteran Yoruba actor and filmmaker, Alhaji Yinka Quadri, has made a startling revelation about his marriage, disclosing that his wife, Alhaja Sadiat Adenike, was fully aware of his relationships with other actresses and even cared for some of them in their home.

The 67-year-old actor made the disclosure during an interview on the African A-List podcast, which was posted on Facebook on Friday, October 9, 2026 .

Quadri, one of the most respected figures in the Nigerian film industry, has been married to Sadiat for over three decades. The couple met in 1985 and formally married in 1989 . Their union is blessed with children and grandchildren .

His revelation has sparked widespread conversations about marriage, polygamy, trust, and the unique challenges faced by entertainers in managing their personal lives under public scrutiny.

THE FULL DISCLOSURE: WHAT QUADRI SAID

During the interview, Quadri explained that some of the actresses he was involved with eventually became friends with his wife. In some cases, these women would approach his wife to gossip about his relationships with other actresses in the industry .

He stated: “It got to a stage, I won’t mention the ladies’ names in the industry. They would become friends with my wife and start giving gossip to my wife that I am dating so-so-so in the industry” .

What Quadri found particularly notable was that some of the women who came to gossip about him were, in fact, women he was also dating at the time.

He explained: “Some of them were women I was actually dating, but they went to her out of jealousy” .

THE WIFE’S RESPONSE: NO FIGHTING, NO JEALOUSY

According to Quadri, his wife’s response to these revelations was unexpected. Rather than confronting the women or engaging in conflict, she simply acknowledged that she was already aware of the situation .

He said: “Meanwhile, my wife would say she was already aware I was dating the person they came to gossip about. She wouldn’t fight them because of that” .

Quadri also noted that jealousy sometimes caused disagreements among the women he dated, with some of them leaving his home in anger. He added: “And there were some of them that we were dating who went home out of jealousy. Meanwhile, my wife would say she was aware already and she doesn’t fight them cause of that” .

THE EXTENT OF THE WIFE’S CARE: FEEDING THE ACTRESSES

Perhaps the most striking aspect of Quadri’s disclosure was his account of how his wife treated the actresses who visited their home.

According to the actor, late-night film productions sometimes meant that some actresses would spend the night at his residence on Kalu Street.

Despite knowing about their relationships with her husband, his wife would prepare meals for them and attend to their needs .

Quadri stated: “Sometimes when production ends late, they would sleep in my house. And despite my wife being aware of my relationship with them, she would still feed them and everything” . He emphasised that his wife gave them “everything they needed” despite being fully aware of the nature of their relationships with him .

A MARRIAGE OF SACRIFICE AND UNDERSTANDING?

Quadri acknowledged his wife’s sacrifices, crediting her support as a factor in his success. He reflected on aspects of their marriage that have raised difficult questions about love, loyalty, and the limits of sacrifice in a relationship .

In the same interview, Quadri also discussed other personal matters, including his decision to leave school to help his father, and selling an unfinished house to finance a film project .

QUADRI’S LONG-STANDING MONOGAMY

Quadri’s revelation is particularly notable given his long-standing public position on monogamy. In a 2019 interview with City People Magazine, Quadri explained why he chose to remain married to just one wife, despite his Muslim faith permitting polygamy .

He said: “There is nothing to hide and it is not difficult at all. I am with one wife, we have been together since 1985. But before we got married, I already had a child from someone else. I had a normal wedding ceremony with the woman, but along the line we discovered we are not compatible… so our parents decided it is better we go our separate ways. And since she left, I met this my wife in 1985 and we started having kids in 1989 and she is the only woman in my house” .

Quadri’s wife, Alhaja Sadiat Adenike Quadri, is described as a very private person who likes to keep her life simple .

PUBLIC REACTION: DIVIDED OPINIONS

The interview clip drew a wide range of responses on social media, with users weighing in on everything from generational differences in marriage to questions of honesty and respect.

The remarks take on additional weight given the longevity of Quadri’s marriage. He has been with Alhaja Sadiat Adenike Quadri since the mid-1980s and formally married her in 1989.

The couple have maintained their union for over three decades within the Yoruba film industry.

The interview has reignited conversations about the intersection of personal relationships and on-set culture in Nollywood, where long shoot hours and close collaboration between cast members are commonplace.

NO NAMES MENTIONED, NO WIFE RESPONSE

Quadri did not name any of the actresses involved in the relationships he described. There has been no public response from his wife, Alhaja Sadiat Adenike Quadri, regarding his disclosures .

His decision to speak openly about his marriage is a departure from the secrecy that often surrounds celebrity relationships in Nigeria.

Whether his revelation will be met with understanding or criticism remains to be seen.

ValidViewNetwork reports that Quadri made the disclosure during an interview on the African A-List podcast. The lesson is that even the most celebrated lives are shaped by ordinary human complexities, and that the dynamics of every marriage are unique to those within it.
