LAFIA — Archbishop Prof. Emmanuel Musa Jatau, founder of the Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly in Abuja, has formally appealed to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule to intervene on humanitarian grounds regarding the continued detention of media activist Abdulkarim Alanana Mai’yau, popularly known as Oscar Keana.
In an open letter dated October 7, 2026, the cleric urged the governor to show magnanimity by supporting the activist’s release pending trial. Keana is currently remanded at the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Nasarawa after being arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) before a Federal High Court in Lafia.
Court Proceedings and Charges
The activist faces a two-count charge relating to alleged false information over publications targeting the state government (suit No. FHC/LF/176C/2026). The presiding court has scheduled November 26 for the hearing and determination of his pending bail application.
Emphasizing that he has no personal relationship with the defendant, Archbishop Jatau clarified that his plea is driven entirely by concerns for Keana’s family and general welfare. He noted that the gesture would demonstrate executive restraint without undermining the judicial process or pre-empting the court’s final verdict on the allegations.
