US Congressman Riley Moore has welcomed the reported arrest of Mahmoud Adam, whom Moore described as a terrorist leader allegedly responsible for attacks on Christians in Nigeria.
Moore, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, made the statement on X.
“This is great news for Christians in Nigeria!” Moore wrote. He linked the reported arrest to security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.
CLAIMS ABOUT ADAM
Moore described Adam as a “radical Islamic Fulani terrorist leader” and alleged that he was responsible for killings of Christians.
ValidViewNetwork reports that those descriptions are Moore’s characterisation and allegations, and should not be presented as an independent judicial finding unless Nigerian authorities establish the allegations through due process.
SECURITY COOPERATION
Moore said the reported arrest showed that the US-Nigeria Security Cooperation agreement was producing results. The development comes amid continuing international attention on insecurity and attacks in parts of Nigeria. The reported arrest itself now raises questions about the identity, charges and judicial status of the suspect.
ValidViewNetwork reports that confirmation from Nigerian security authorities and details of any charges or court proceedings will be important in establishing the full facts of the case.
