
Joint Security Forces Rescue 10 Abducted Corps Members in Imo, Neutralize 16 Terrorists in Adamawa
JOINT SECURITY OPERATIONS have recorded major breakthroughs across multiple theaters, successfully rescuing 10 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Imo State while simultaneously neutralizing 16 terrorists and recovering cache arms during simultaneous ambushes in Adamawa State.
According to official operational updates, the multi-agency rescue in Imo followed a brazen dawn assault along the Onitsha-Owerri Road.
Imo State: Swift Rescue Along Onitsha-Owerri Highway
Troops operating under Operation UDO KA alongside tactical elements of the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, Police, and the Department of State Services (DSS) intervened swiftly following a distress call from Umonuwa village in Mbaise Local Government Area.
- The Incident: Unidentified gunmen intercepted two commercial buses conveying prospective corps members heading to orientation camp.
- The Rescue: Joint security forces deployed immediately, securing the release of 10 victims at the scene.
- Ongoing Manhunt: Combined tactical teams are aggressively trailing the fleeing criminals through surrounding bush paths to secure the remaining passengers.
Adamawa State: 16 Terrorists Neutralized in Garkida and Garaha
In the North-East, troops of the 226 Battalion (Motorised) in Garkida and the 232 Battalion in Garaha successfully repelled coordinated midnight attacks launched by insurgents.
- The Engagement: Overwhelmed by superior firepower during the early morning assaults, the terrorists attempted to flee on motorcycles toward Garkida.
- Aerial & Ground Strikes: Spartan elements of the Nigerian Army tracked and engaged the retreating fighters, neutralizing 16 insurgents.
- Recovered Arsenals: Troops retrieved three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, a Dane gun, and six loaded AK-47 magazines.
Broader Security Sweeps Across Taraba, Yobe, and Sokoto
Military campaigns recorded further gains in other flashpoint zones:
- Taraba: Troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE foiled an invasion in Karim Lamido Local Government Area, forcing attackers to abandon rustled cattle which were promptly returned to owners, though search efforts continue for three civilians abducted during the crossfire.
- Yobe & Sokoto: Sector 3 troops of Operation HADIN KAI arrested a high-profile ISWAP suspect disguised as an Islamic cleric in Tarmuwa LGA, while Operation FANSAN YAMMA dominated hostile corridors along the Kwanar Isa-Shinkafi route in Sokoto State.
Security chiefs have reiterated their commitment to sustaining aggressive intelligence-led sweeps to secure vulnerable travel corridors nationwide.
