Former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has broken his silence to throw his full backing behind the club following a landmark independent commission verdict that found the club guilty of 114 breaches of Premier League financial rules.
The damning ruling, which followed an extensive investigation into the club’s financial reporting and commercial revenues between 2009 and 2018, concluded that City inflated revenues by nearly £900 million through arrangements such as sham contracts, while misstating accounts and frustrating the multi-year inquiry.
Taking to social media following the publication of the verdict, Guardiola—who stepped down from his role at the end of last season after a trophy-laden ten-year tenure—insisted that his allegiance to the reigning structure remains unshaken.
“I want every single Man City fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters,” Guardiola posted. “Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all.”
