Super Eagles forward 🇳🇬 Kelechi Iheanacho has captured the spotlight in Turkish football, earning the official accolade for the best player of the opening eight rounds in the Turkish 1. Lig. Broadcaster beIN SPORTS honored the Nigerian international following a blistering start to his career with Bursaspor.
Panelists on the network’s weekly review program, including moderator Turgay Keskin and commentator Tunç Kayacı, unanimously lauded the former Leicester City and Celtic star, while also selecting Bursaspor as the standout team of the campaign’s early stretch.
A Record-Breaking Run
Since arriving in Turkey as a free agent, Iheanacho has taken the second tier by storm, finding the back of the net in every single fixture. His remarkable tally stands at 11 goals and two assists in eight league appearances.
His clinical form was epitomized during a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Batman Petrolspor, where he netted a late brace—including a decisive 85th-minute winner. That performance matched a historic club scoring record set by former striker Fernandao during the 2014/15 season.
Fueling Promotion and International Return
Driven by Iheanacho’s lethal instincts upfront, Bursaspor has surged to the summit of the standings, accumulating 19 points from six wins and a draw in their first eight outings.
The 29-year-old’s resurgence has not gone unnoticed on the international stage. Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has handed the striker a well-deserved national team recall ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international assignment, rewarding a phenomenal stretch of club form that has revitalized his career.
