Money Won’t Be a Problem for Our Campaigns — Umahi

ABAKALIKI, Sept. 27, 2026 — Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has declared that a lack of funds will not be a challenge in the 2027 election campaigns for President Bola Tinubu, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

Findings show Umahi made the declaration at the grand finale of the Ohanivo New Yam Festival, held at Oshiri Primary School in the Oshiri Development Centre, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

At the gathering, traditional rulers and other stakeholders from Onicha, Ohaozara and Ivo local government areas formally endorsed Tinubu for a second term and Nwifuru for re-election as governor.

A Motion, an Endorsement, and a Boast

The endorsement followed a motion moved by a member of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Chief Ifesinachi Odii, and supported by Ogbuefi Enekwachi Akpa, with the community citing the two leaders’ infrastructural projects as grounds for another term.

Addressing the gathering, Umahi said his kinsmen were already mobilising support for Tinubu, Nwifuru and other APC candidates.

“We have nothing to worry about. If it comes to money, I have over 5,000 billionaires who are my friends,” he said, describing the coming election as “a movement” for peace in Ebonyi and the Southeast.

Grassroots Push, With a Caution Against Trouble

Checks by ValidViewNetwork confirm Umahi said the APC would embark on house-to-house mobilisation across the state on behalf of Tinubu, Nwifuru and Senator Anthony Ani, while cautioning supporters against destroying opposition campaign materials or disrupting rival parties’ activities.

He added that he would continue working with Nwifuru to secure what he called “eight years” for the governor, insisting there was “no vacancy” in Ebonyi ahead of 2027.

Nwifuru Recalls His Political Journey

Governor Nwifuru, who also spoke at the event, recalled the political developments preceding his 2023 emergence as governor, saying the community’s backing had strengthened his confidence to seek a second term, which he summed up as “four plus four.”

He commended Umahi’s representation of Ebonyi and the Southeast at the federal level and urged residents to judge lawmakers by the development they attract to their constituencies.

A Festival of Thanksgiving and Unity

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Enekwachi Akpa, described the New Yam Festival as a celebration of thanksgiving, culture and unity, urging youths and diaspora indigenes to stay connected to their roots.

President-General of the Ohanivo Development Association, Hon. Darlington Okereke, said the festival had helped strengthen peace and unity in the area. ValidViewNetwork reports.
