Sani to Wike: Fix FCT Problems Before Attacking Governors

ABUJA, Sept. 27, 2026 — A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance (AMA), Yakubu Sani, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to prioritise governance, public utilities and workers’ welfare over what he described as unnecessary political confrontations.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Sani urged the minister to take a cue from Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, whom he said has consistently focused on project delivery and party cohesion “without turning public functions into arenas for verbal attacks.”

Wike Should Learn From Uzodimma

“Wike should learn from Uzodimma. The Imo governor is working and organising quietly without abusing anybody. He is concentrating on governance, delivering projects, and organising the largest support base for the President,” Sani said.

Commissioning Ceremonies as Battlegrounds

The APC chieftain took particular issue with the minister’s habit of using project commissioning events to launch political broadsides, warning that combative rhetoric risks overshadowing the infrastructure gains of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“Every road and bridge commissioned in Abuja should be an opportunity to talk about development, not an occasion to abuse or denigrate perceived obstacles to his unbridled political ambition,” he said.

Utilities Lagging Behind Roads and Bridges

While acknowledging ongoing capital projects across the territory, Sani stressed that human capital development and municipal services must keep pace with physical infrastructure.

Sani pointed towards erratic water supply, indiscriminate parking and uncollected waste across major parts of the capital. “While Wike is building roads and bridges, he should also be asking what is happening to the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers and civil servants in the FCT. Many FCT residents don’t have water, while motorists compete with refuse dumps for space on major roads in the city,” he said.

A Final Word on Priorities

Sani rounded off his appeal by urging the minister to let his work speak for him rather than using public platforms to target APC governors loyal to Tinubu’s re-election bid.

“President Tinubu gave Wike a job to do in Abuja. He should concentrate on that job. Let the quality of his work speak for him instead of using every commissioning ceremony to attack APC governors who are committed to Tinubu’s re-election,” he said. ValidViewNetwork reports.
