Police arrest 10 suspected criminals in Edo

BENIN CITY — The Edo State Police Command says it has arrested 10 suspects linked to a range of serious crimes — kidnapping, murder, defilement, rape and armed robbery.

The arrests were made in a single week, as part of an intensifying crackdown on criminal elements across the state.

ValidViewNetwork can confirm that Commissioner of Police Patrick Daaor disclosed the arrests, adding that one suspected kidnapper was neutralised during the same period of operations.

According to reports gotten by ValidViewNetwork, operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle, ten rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a Beretta pistol loaded with 14 live rounds, a haul the Commissioner says reflects the scale of firepower criminal gangs have been able to access in parts of the state.

Findings show that this is far from an isolated operation: Edo’s police command has, over recent months, run repeated crackdowns targeting cult groups and kidnap syndicates across Benin City and surrounding local government areas, from cultist arrests in Uwelu and Siluko to kidnap-gang busts in the Agbede forest.

The recurring nature of these operations underscores both sustained security pressure and the persistence of the criminal networks the Command keeps confronting.

ValidViewNetwork gathered that Daaor assured Edo residents no effort would be spared in bringing perpetrators to justice. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and promptly share credible information with police, a plea that echoes nearly every previous operation update from the command.
