Aliko Dangote may be preparing another major business to enter the public market.
The billionaire says Dangote Fertiliser could launch an initial public offering in 2028, as the company targets much larger production capacity.
Dangote expects fertiliser capacity to reach about 12 million tonnes annually across Nigeria and other operations.
Why Nigerians Should Watch It
The refinery’s recent share offering has already introduced thousands of Nigerians to the idea of owning a small piece of a major Dangote business.
A fertiliser listing would take that story into agriculture.
Nigeria remains heavily dependent on fertiliser for food production, while farmers continue to struggle with the cost of inputs.
A future public listing could therefore become both an investment story and an agriculture story.
But 2028 is still ahead. The proposed IPO is a plan, not a completed transaction.
For now, the important development is that Dangote is signalling another stage in the expansion of his industrial businesses.
