A dispute between the White House and US news organisations has escalated after five major television networks suspended their shared video coverage of President Donald Trump.
ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox and NBC operate the television press pool that covers presidential movements and events and distributes footage to other news organisations.
The pool has now been suspended after the White House barred CNN, MS NOW and Politico from covering the White House.
How the Pool Works
The television pool allows networks to rotate responsibility for recording presidential events and sharing the footage with other broadcasters.
That arrangement is particularly important when the president travels or appears in spaces where every news organisation cannot physically send its own camera crew.
The suspension therefore affects more than the five networks directly involved.
