Nollywood actress Esther Nwachukwu has said she would accept money from politicians to campaign for them in the 2027 elections, but only if she believes they are good candidates.
The actress, also known as Esther Sky, made the statement during an interview published on Saturday.
Nwachukwu said she would not campaign for a politician she believed could not move Nigeria forward, regardless of how much money was offered.
ValidViewNetwork reports that the actress linked her position to the economic hardship facing many Nigerians and the need to consider the country’s long-term future when choosing political leaders.
She argued that accepting money from a bad politician could amount to sacrificing the country’s future for temporary personal gain.
Her comments have added an unusual perspective to the growing conversation around celebrity involvement in political campaigns ahead of 2027.
ValidViewNetwork reports that Nwachukwu’s position is ultimately a simple one: money may influence a campaign, but she says the candidate must first pass her own test of competence and character.
