The National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that his team will establish a dual result transmission system for the 2027 elections, transmitting results from polling units independently to its own situation room alongside INEC’s official system.

In the same interview, Obi insisted he won the 2023 presidential election and declared he will only concede defeat in 2027 if the poll is free, fair and credible.

A Two-Pronged Strategy

ValidViewNetwork gathered that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has unveiled a two-pronged strategy for the 2027 elections, announcing plans for a dual result transmission system while simultaneously declaring that he will only concede defeat if the election is credible.

Obi disclosed the plan in an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, September 10, 2026, explaining that the system would enable his team to receive and monitor results from polling units as they are recorded.

The Dual Transmission System

“We must make sure that at every polling unit, the votes are counted, the votes are recorded properly, the votes are transmitted properly,” Obi said.

“And we will have even a dual transmission so that as it’s going to the proper designated INEC portal, it’s also being transmitted where the people can see it”.

The former Anambra State governor said the arrangement would operate alongside the official transmission of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Asked whether his plan amounted to establishing a parallel result-transmission system, Obi said it did not.

“All we are saying is that this time around, we will make sure that in every polling unit, we must have a system that transmits to our own situation room the correct results,” he stated .

He said other organisations could also establish similar monitoring systems, adding that the aim was to prevent results from being announced that did not originate from polling units.

“We’re not going to have a situation where somebody pronounces something that didn’t emanate from the polling unit. Our task is to make sure that the right things are done,” Obi said .

“I Won the 2023 Election”

In the same interview, Obi maintained that he won the 2023 presidential election, saying those who conducted the poll knew what happened.

“I did, and I will maintain that as long as I live that I won the 2023 election. Those who conducted it know the records; they know why there was a glitch and what happened,” he said.

Asked about the idea of a “turn-by-turn” presidency, Obi said elections should not be determined by tribe or religion.

“Election should not be driven by tribe or religion. Today, in terms of qualification, I’m qualified to be president of Nigeria. I have the competence; I have been all over the world studying what it takes to be president of a country, and I know what I can do to turn around this country in the right direction,” he said .

The Condition for Concession

Obi declared that he would respect the will of Nigerians if they chose another candidate, but only if the election was credible.

“If the election is free, fair and credible, I will because it’s an election. It’s the people that would say who they want to serve, and I will respect the will of the people; that’s democracy,” he said .

The NDC candidate also framed the 2027 election as a contest between Nigerians and the government rather than one centred solely on political parties .

A Lesson for Nigeria

Obi’s dual transmission plan and his conditional concession are a reminder that transparency is the foundation of electoral credibility.

The same politicians who demand free and fair elections must also be willing to accept the results when they lose.

The same leaders who accuse others of rigging must also be willing to subject themselves to the same standards of accountability.

For Nigeria, the lesson is clear: democracy requires both vigilance and humility.

The same opposition leaders who insist on transparency must also be willing to concede defeat when the people have spoken.

The same ruling party that demands acceptance of results must also ensure that those results are beyond reproach.

Demand transparency. Accept the will of the people.

And never forget that democracy is not about winning at all costs, it is about respecting the voice of the electorate.
