The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has called on party members to close ranks and work together as campaigns for the 2027 general elections officially begin.
He urged members to put the divisions that accompanied the party’s primary elections behind them and support the APC’s candidates, stressing that political office is temporary.
A Call for Unity
ValidViewNetwork gathered that the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has called on members of the party to close ranks and work together as campaigns begin for the 2027 general elections.
Obanikoro spoke on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at an interfaith prayer organised by the party in Lagos to mark the commencement of electioneering activities.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed September 9, 2026, for the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections .
Putting Primaries Behind
Obanikoro urged party members to put the divisions that accompanied the party’s primary elections behind them and support the APC’s candidates in the elections.
“We competed with dignity. Let us campaign with respect. Let us disagree without becoming enemies,” he said.
He acknowledged that members might have supported different aspirants during the primary elections, but stressed that the conclusion of the exercise had made it necessary for them to unite behind the party’s candidates.
“We belong to one party, and we must approach the elections with unity,” he said .
A Call for Peaceful Campaigns
The former senator urged party faithful to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid allowing political disagreements to turn into personal conflicts.
“Political office is temporary. We must avoid actions that could damage relationships or create divisions within the party and the wider society,” he said .
A Prayer for Divine Guidance
Obanikoro said the prayer session was organised to seek divine intervention ahead of the electioneering period, adding that political campaigns required not only planning and hard work but also prayers.
“We are gathered here for a simple but profound purpose: to place this political journey in the hands of God before the campaigns begin,” he said.
“Our prayer today is simple: let God go before us. Let Him go before our party; let Him go before our candidates; let Him guide our leaders and protect our members and supporters”.
He urged the party’s supporters to focus on the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the election of Obafemi Hamzat, while maintaining loyalty and discipline throughout the campaign.

Obanikoro’s call for unity is a reminder that political parties are at their strongest when they are united.
The same politicians who engage in bitter primary battles must be willing to set aside their differences for the greater good.
The same leaders who demand loyalty from their supporters must also be willing to demonstrate loyalty to the party.
For Nigeria, the lesson is clear: division is the enemy of progress. The same opposition leaders who fail to unite will hand victory to the ruling party on a silver platter.
The same APC members who fail to close ranks will weaken their own chances in 2027.Put the party above personal ambition.
Unite for victory. And never forget that a house divided against itself cannot stand.
