Israeli Ministers Outline Explicit Plans to Depopulate Gaza

​Senior Israeli officials have intensified calls for the wholesale removal of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, laying out formal timelines and mechanisms for mass displacement as military operations and settler violence persist across the Palestinian territories.

​Defense Minister Israel Katz stated during a conference that permanently relocating Gaza’s population is the “only solution” for the enclave, declaring that Israel is fully prepared to execute the expulsions by “sea, air, and every way possible” pending approval from the United States. Katz asserted that US President Donald Trump’s previous proposal regarding relocation had only been frozen rather than cancelled.

​Parallel to Katz’s remarks, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir unveiled a seven-year framework titled “Disengagement 710”. The proposal aims to remove roughly two million residents through what is termed “voluntary emigration”, beginning with 250,000 individuals in its first year. Ben-Gvir stated that his party would seek to establish a dedicated Migration Ministry to coordinate the departures if included in the next government coalition.

​The US State Department reiterated its opposition to any mandatory transfer or forced displacement of Gaza’s population, though the proposals drew immediate and sharp regional condemnation. Arab foreign ministers, including those from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, issued joint statements denouncing the policies as attempts to alter the demographic reality of the region.

​Meanwhile, ground conditions across Gaza and the occupied West Bank continue to deteriorate. Sustained airstrikes and shelling across the Gaza Strip have pushed the documented Palestinian death toll past 73,000 since October 2023, according to the Ministry of Health. Humanitarian agencies report critical shortages of clean water and complete shutdowns of local wastewater treatment plants, while civil defense teams warn that thousands of bodies remain trapped under rubble due to a lack of heavy recovery equipment.

​In the West Bank, intensified military demolitions and expanding settler raids have resulted in multiple deaths, extensive agricultural destruction, and the displacement of entire rural communities.
