BRAMPTON, Ontario — Local law enforcement has taken a 33-year-old man of Nigerian origin into custody following a pair of targeted sexual assaults against a young woman and a teenage girl.
Olusegun Onidare, who police note is of no fixed address, was apprehended following a public tip that connected him to a regional police appeal. Investigators confirmed that Onidare has been formally charged with two counts of sexual assault alongside a single count of breaching a prior probation order.
The sequence of events began on Monday afternoon at the bustling Bramalea City Centre, situated near Dixie Road and Clark Boulevard. According to Peel Regional Police, a 20-year-old shopper was navigating the commercial complex when the suspect approached and subjected her to a sexual assault.
Hours later, the same suspect allegedly targeted a second victim—an underage female—who was sitting outdoors waiting for public transit. Investigators state that Onidare initiated a conversation before seating himself directly beside the minor on a transit bench. When the teenager attempted to walk away from the interaction, the suspect physically restrained and groped her.
The minor managed to break away from the scene and immediately notified emergency services. Regional investigators subsequently distributed details of the suspect to the public, prompting a civilian tip that led directly to Onidare’s identification and subsequent arrest.
The formal charges have been laid, though none of the allegations have yet been tested or proven in a court of law. Judicial proceedings are slated to follow as the investigation remains ongoing.
